Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most difficult but well-loved poker games. It’s a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible variation, has increased in acceptance so amazingly.

Omaha 8 or better begins like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to every player. A round of betting follows where gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is called the flop. Another round of betting happens. Once all the gamblers have in turn called or dropped out, another card is flipped on the turn. a further sequence of wagering happens at which point the river card is flipped. The entrants must attempt to put together the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is where a few entrants can get confused. Unlike Holdem, where the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must utilize exactly three cards from the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. No more, no less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It’s the strongest possible hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical approach in almost every poker game.

The lower hand is more complex, but really opens up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. A low hand is the worst hand that might be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The low hand takes half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there’s no lower hand presented, the high hand takes the whole pot.

It may seem complex at first, after a few hands you will be agile enough to pick up on the fundamental nuances of play with ease. Seeing as you have individuals wagering for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are being used at the same time, Omaha/8 provides an overwhelming assortment of betting possibilities and seeing that you have several individuals trying for the high, and a few battling for the low hand. If you enjoy a game with a plethora of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to play Omaha 8 or better.
